FSLC believes that sustainable productivity growth is key to achieving global food security. We need to increase the agricultural production we obtain from a given amount of land, labor, capital, and other inputs—while ensuring that growth is sustainable for our natural resources and our societies. This new study shows that productivity growth is also inherently sustainable in important ways. Over time, higher productivity has proven to be the main source of reduced agricultural emissions.
